We are located in the northeast corner of South Dakota, just 40 miles from Aberdeen,
the "Pheasant Capital of the World".

Hecla Dakota Hunting Farms, so named because its hunting is done on many family farms located near Hecla, South Dakota. Family members have hunted this land since the early 1900’s and helped introduce pheasants to this part of South Dakota at the turn of the century.

Hunt Pheasant & Waterfowl on over 20,000 acres of private farmland, including 6 miles of river front on the James River. We are in the Central Flyway and our property abuts the 28,000 acre Sand Lake Refuge. We have pheasant, dove, duck, geese and Tundra swan, that feed, water and rest on our properties.

Our guides have been hunters all their lives and grew up in the area. We train all our own dogs. We have wirehair, shorthair, & labs. Hunters are welcome to bring their own dogs.

Fly into Aberdeen on Northwest Airlines. We will be there to greet you and drive you to the lodge. If you are driving, the lodge is located on Highway 10 about three-quarters of a mile east of the junction of Highway 37.

The key to a successful hunt is to start early. There is a limited number of out of state waterfowl licenses available and they sell out early. Check the newsletter for more specific information on licensing. South Dakota is a popular hunting destination and the airline books up early. Many of our hunters rebook for the next year before they leave for home so if you have special dates in mind or special requests, or if you need more information please call now!!
